Precision Investment Casting

Intricate Geometries. Engineered Certainty.

Beyond the Mold: The Engineering Advantage

Investment casting (Lost Wax) is the preferred choice for components where CNC machining is too costly or geometries are too complex for traditional die casting. At Bombay Metrics, we don’t just ‘find a foundry.’ We leverage the deep engineering talent in Pune to manage the critical DFM and ceramic shell iteration phases, ensuring your parts meet the print on the first shipment.

Technical Capabilities

We specialize in high-detail aluminum alloy components that require superior surface finishes and tight dimensional tolerances.

Dimensional & Precision Specs

This is the first thing our engineers look for to see if your process fits their part.

  • Linear Tolerances:Ability to maintain standard ±0.005 inch per inch (or ±0.125 mm).
  • Wall Thickness:Capabilities down to 0.030" (0.75mm) for lightweight aerospace/medical housings.
  • Surface Finish:Achieving 63 to 125 RMS (micro-inches) straight out of the mold, reducing secondary polishing costs.

Advanced Process Control

Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM): For reactive or super-alloy casting to ensure gas-free, high-purity metal.

  • Automated Slurry Lines:Climate-controlled shell building for consistent thickness and zero inclusions.
  • Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM):For reactive or super-alloy casting to ensure gas-free, high-purity metal.
  • Solidification Modeling:Using MagmaSoft or ProCAST simulation to predict porosity and optimize gating before the first wax is poured.

The Ceramic Shell Difference

Precision Born from Thermal Stability.

The secret to our investment casting accuracy lies in the automated shell-building process. By strictly controlling the slurry viscosity and drying environment in our Pune facilities, we eliminate the micro-fractures that cause casting inclusions. This rigorous control allows us to hold tolerances of ±0.005 inches on complex aerospace and medical components.

1. The “Near-Net Shape” Advantage

Our high-density ceramic shells produce an industry-leading surface finish of 63 to 125 RMS. This “near-net shape” capability significantly reduces—and often eliminates—the need for expensive secondary CNC machining, allowing for complex geometries that are impossible to achieve through traditional sand casting or forging.

2. The “Metallurgical Purity” Angle
Uniform Thermal Dissipation

By automating the shell-building cycle in a climate-controlled environment, we ensure uniform wall thickness across the entire mold. This results in consistent cooling rates during solidification, which prevents internal shrinkage and ensures a refined, homogenous grain structure throughout the casting.
